What is a session like?
Each session is 55 minutes long. In general, we will explore 1-2 topics each session and combine this exploration with information and reflection about present events in your life. I help you track and clarify what you're working on and your progress. I'll bring my observations and thoughts during the session forward to you directly.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked with people's bodies focusing on health, movement and awareness. In my graduate training, I studied Gestalt therapy and Internal Family Systems. Because of this, I am oriented towards the present moment and physical sensation when working with you. I believe slowing down and noticing what's happening on a subtle level is important. The body provides a lot of information about what is going on, and anxieties, dissociation, and other responses that come up during sessions frequently provide the most valuable healing.
I enjoy working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds who are interested in self growth. Common reasons people might come in to therapy include:
-difficulty with anxiety or persistent sadness
-lack of personal satisfaction or meaning in their lives
-histories of abuse
-uncertainty about the future (wanting help clarifying what direction to move in)
-difficulty with personal relationships (codependence, discomfort with people, stuckness in relationships)
-help exploring a passion or creative pursuit
-support though a difficult or especially stressful time.
I don't currently work with individuals with active substance use disorders or active domestic violence.
Fees and Structure of Sessions
All sessions are currently provided virtually over Zoom. In order to develop a good connection with clients and have the best results possible, I work with clients a minimum of 3x monthly. My rate is $160 for a 55 minute session. I am out of network but provide superbills for reimbursement for your PPO. I have a small number of sliding scale sessions available to those who need it.
A little more about me:
I have a strong connection to nature and the outdoors. I especially appreciate the coastside here as well as the mountains and Tahoe. I enjoy animals and coffee. I am a member of the LGBTQ community and am committed to antiracism work.
